What this tool does

The SERP Snippet Preview renders a realistic Google-style search result from your SEO title, URL, and meta description. Toggle between desktop and mobile views and watch live character counters as you type.

Search snippets are where your page competes for the click. Getting the title and description to read well within their display limits is one of the cheapest SEO wins available — and this tool lets you iterate before anything goes live.

The preview is a faithful visual approximation of Google's current result layout, including truncation behavior, so you can see precisely where your text gets cut off.

How to use it

  1. Enter your SEO title, page URL, and meta description.
  2. Watch the live character counters and the truncation in the preview.
  3. Toggle between desktop and mobile to see how the snippet changes.
  4. Adjust copy until it reads well in both views, then copy it into your CMS.

How it works

  • Titles are typically truncated around 60 characters on desktop. Descriptions are truncated around 155–160 characters.
  • The preview simulates Google's truncation with ellipses, matching the visible width rather than a hard character count.
  • The URL is displayed in breadcrumb format (domain › path) the way Google renders it.

Example

A 72-character title will truncate mid-sentence in the preview. Shortening it to "7 Practical SEO Tips for Beginners" fixes the display and reads better.

Common questions

Is this an exact Google preview?
It is a close visual approximation. Google's actual truncation depends on pixel width, device, and other factors, so treat it as a guide.
Why does my description get truncated at 155 characters?
Google generally displays around 155–160 characters of a meta description. Longer text is cut off with an ellipsis.
Can Google rewrite my snippet?
Yes. Google sometimes generates its own title and description. Writing good meta copy maximizes the chance yours is used.
